Presidential candidate Catherine Connolly TD has said that Ireland stands at a defining moment - “a choice between real hope and more of the same.”
“The Irish people are ready for change - a renewal of the best in us,” Catherine said. We can choose to keep drifting, or we can choose integrity, independence and hope - at home and abroad.”
Catherine said her campaign seeks to renew the proud Irish tradition of principled leadership, embodied by Mary Robinson, Michael D. Higgins, and Frank Aiken - leaders who gave Ireland a moral voice in the world rooted in peace, justice, and compassion.
“Theirs was a leadership that looked outward with integrity and inward with conscience. That same spirit must guide us now - in how we treat each other, how we speak on the world stage, and how we face the future together.”
Catherine said the energy and momentum behind her campaign comes from people who want to see that renewal in action - a Presidency that listens, includes, and inspires.
“Everywhere I go, I meet young people full of ideas and optimism. They want fairness, equality and a better Ireland - and they’re ready to build it. This campaign belongs to them as much as to anyone.”
On Monday, the campaign will host a national Youth Canvass Day, with young volunteers across the country encouraging participation under the theme “Your Vote is Your Voice.”
“Our young people are the heartbeat of this campaign. They bring energy, momentum and belief - proof that hope is alive and that change is possible. I’m asking everyone to join them, to use your vote, and to make your voice heard for a more equal, united and hopeful Ireland.”
