Independent Presidential candidate Catherine Connolly TD has urged voters to turn out in large numbers tomorrow, saying that the real power in this election lies not with government or party machines, but with the people themselves.

“This is our chance to show that democracy in Ireland is alive and strong,” Connolly said. “When people come out to vote, when they make their voices heard, real change becomes possible. That’s what this campaign has been about from day one – giving people their voice back.”

Connolly said that those in power would prefer to see a low turnout - and that every vote cast tomorrow will send a powerful message.

“They’d love nothing more than for people to stay at home, to shrug their shoulders and think their vote won’t make a difference. But it will. Your vote is your power – and the only wasted vote is the one that’s never cast.”

Reflecting on the campaign, Connolly said she has been deeply encouraged by the thousands who have joined her call for fairness and hope and equality.

“Throughout this campaign, we’ve seen attempts to distract, to divide, and to drag the conversation into negativity,” she said. But I’ve stayed focused on what truly matters - the kind of Ireland we want to build together. I believe the Irish people respond to ideas, to integrity, and to hope - not to fear or manipulation.”

Connolly said her campaign had been rooted in respect, substance, and vision – not spin.

“Ours has been a positive campaign - grounded in values, not vested interests. I’m so proud of the spirit that’s come through in every conversation, every handshake, every town and village we’ve visited. People want integrity and decency - and they know that’s what we stand for.”

She concluded with a final call to action:

“Tomorrow, stand up and be counted. Go out and vote. Encourage your family, your neighbours, your friends to do the same.

“Let’s show that people power still matters - and that no government or party machine can silence the will of the people.”
