Independent Presidential candidate Catherine Connolly has urged voters across Ireland to turn out and make their voices heard in today’s Presidential election, saying that the power now rests entirely with the people.

“This is your day - a day when every citizen is equal, and every vote carries the same weight,” Connolly said.

“The choice is now in your hands. Use that power. Don’t leave it to others to decide the kind of Ireland we will be.”

Connolly said that despite any negativity and noise recently, the spirit of her campaign had remained true to itself - hopeful, positive, and focused on substance.

“We’ve seen plenty of attempts to distract from the real issues that face our people - but I’ve always believed that people see through that.

“They know what’s at stake. They know that Ireland deserves a President who listens, includes and represents every part of this island with honesty and compassion.”

Connolly said the campaign had shown that people were hungry for a more open and honest kind of politics - one rooted in fairness, equality, and decency.

“This campaign is about the people of Ireland - and about what kind of republic we want to be. I’m proud that we have built something based on hope and conviction, not fear or cynicism.”

She concluded with a final appeal to voters:

“Make today count. Bring your family, your friends, your neighbours - make sure they vote too. Every single vote matters. Every vote is a voice. Let’s show the power of participation and pride in our democracy.

Let’s show that Ireland still believes in fairness, honesty and hope - and that together, we can shape a better future for all our people.”
