Catherine Connolly condemns threats against Simon Harris and his family
Says those who make these threats deny us all the opportunities for public engagement

Presidential candidate Catherine Connolly TD said “I want to take this opportunity to condemn, in the strongest possible terms, the threats being made against Tánaiste Simon Harris and his family. There can be no place for such violent threats against politicians and their families.
“The violent abuse and threats against public and political figures are appalling and those responsible should be held to account. We must have a safe environment for engagement, debate and political differences.
“These threats are an attack on all of us. They close down the space for public engagement and open debate that our democracy depends on. We cannot allow that. We must stand together and make it clear: those who threaten and abuse will not win.”
